As an artist, I use bold line and vigorous color to tell stories. I am fascinated by the small moments that come together to create a life experience. In my ink and watercolor drawings I use a few spare lines to distill an idea to its essential core. I believe that empty, negative space can be as powerful as the undulating lines and touches of color that emphasize them. In my paintings I employ energetic, expressive strokes of color, often created with oil paint sticks in thick layers of cross-hatching.
Some of my works are diptychs or triptychs of words and pictures. I feel the need to explore emotions and human relationships with writing as well as with visuals. In these marriages of words and pictures I create emotional sketches, allowing the viewer to infer additional impact.
